Veteran Hospice Homestead
Veteran Homestead, Inc. is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Fitchburg, MA. The organization was founded by CEO Leslie Lightfoot in 1993 and has since expanded into six unique facilities throughout New England and Puerto Rico.
Our mission is to provide medical, psychological, and spiritual care to veterans who are diagnosed with a terminal illness, elderly, disabled, or otherwise in need. We provide these services without regard to race, religion, or sexual orientation.
The Programs
Veteran Homestead, Inc. programs are created by a veteran and staffed with experts who share the compassion and commitment to treat and accommodate wounded warriors in their transition to civilian life.
- Veteran Hospice & Armistice Homestead, Fitchburg & Leominster, MA: providing 24 hour care in a warm and compassionate environment for twenty-seven medically fragile and terminally ill veterans.
- Hero Homestead, Leominster, MA: 15 bed substance free facility providing transitional housing for veterans dealing with substance abuse and mental health issues.
- Veteran Victory Farm, Fitzwilliam, NH: an 80-acre working organic farm that provides permanent housing, case management and therapy for 12 veterans seeking safe and independent living.
- Hacienda de Veteranos, Caguas Puerto Rico: 12 bed facility for substance abuse rehabilitation.
- Northeast Veteran Training and Rehabilitation Center (NVTRC), Gardner, MA: permanent housing program for post-9/11 veterans and their families consisting of twenty, two bedroom units and therapy center.
